Słowacki, Juliusz - Odpowiedź na Psalmy Przyszłości
Juliusz Słowacki of the Leliwa coat of arms (1809–1849) was one of the most outstanding Polish poets of the Romantic era, a dramatist and writer of letters. Alongside Mickiewicz, Krasiński, and Norwid, he is considered one of the so-called National Bards of Polish literature. As a philosopher, he was the creator of the genetic (pneumatic) philosophy.
Written in 1848, Odpowiedź na Psalmy przyszłości is a polemical poem by Polish Romantic poet Juliusz Słowacki. It directly responds to Zygmunt Krasiński’s Psalmy przyszłości, challenging his idealization of the nobility and their historical role. Passionate, visionary, and politically charged, the poem reflects the turbulent atmosphere of mid-19th-century Europe and the Polish struggle for independence.
