Rilke, Rainer Maria - Book of Hours

Year: 2005Genre: Poetry

Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) was an Austrian poet of the early twentieth century. The Book of Hours (Das Stunden-Buch) is written in the form of a confessional dialogue between a Kyiv monk and a “neighbor-God,” who helps a lonely person overcome alienation. A sense of universal connectedness and the inclusion of ordinary objects and events in poetry form the basis of Rilke’s distinctive lyrical style.
