Klāvs Elsbergs (1959–1987) was a Latvian poet and translator, the son of the poet Vizma Belševica. Elsbergs studied French philology at the Latvian State University (1977–1982) and worked at the publishing house Liesma (“Flame”) and the literary magazine Avots (“The Source”).

His poems began appearing in print in 1978, and during his lifetime two collections of his poetry were published; another was released after his death. Klāvs Elsbergs died in 1987 in Jūrmala under circumstances that remain unclear.

In 1987, a literary prize bearing his name was established in Latvia for the best debut book.
